SEARCHBOX
The searchbox is the main way to find products & information on GIYP.com. It is divided into 3 tabs. Each search tab asks for a keyword and a location (state or zip code).
Category Search
This will help you find specific products and services, so just enter the name of a product or category: "Landscapers" or "Garden Centers" or "Trees".
Name Search
This will help you locate a specific business by name, so just enter the name (or partial name) in the searchbox: "A+ Gardens" or "Home Depot".
Plant Search
This will help you find retailers that sell a specific plant, so just enter a plant name or partial plant name: "Japanese Maple" or "Black Eyed Susan" or "Rhododendron calendulaceum". PLEASE NOTE that the Plant Search will only find plants by name. For a more advanced plant search, including flower color, growth height, and more, visit http://www.virtualplanttags.com.
SEARCH RESULTS
Listings
For each search, you will get a variety of results. The primary results are "Listings" which will appear in the top right of your page. Listings are companies that sell the product, service, plant or business name that matched your search. These listings come from our GIYP publication network and list the publication where they advertise.

Enhanced Listings include a brochure which displays detailed product/services, contact information and plant lists for that particular company. You can also email a company directly from their brochure. Just click on the company name to open their brochure. This is a list of the categories that matched your search or are related to the category that you searched for.
This is a list of the plants that matched your search or are related to the plant that you searched for.

How do I find products and services on www.GIYP.com?
To find products and services on our web site, please refer to our detailed How to Use GIYP section above. Here we explain every way you can find companies that provide the products, services, and plants that you are looking for.
Why isn't that company down the street from me listed on www.GIYP.com?
The staff at Green Industry Yellow Pages strive to make sure we provide the best results that we can to help you find what you're looking for. However, many businesses are not listed with us because either their information has recently changed, they are a new business, or they simply do not know about our service. If you are looking for specific plants, keep in mind that not every garden center in our database has given us a specific list of plants that they sell. The results page will indicate if the garden centers might not carry the specific plant variety you are looking for.
Please help us get the word out! If you use our web site regularly and you know of companies that you feel would benefit by being a part of our service, please contact them and let them know that they should learn more about Green Industry Yellow Pages!

Why does your site keep asking me if I'm a Homeowner or a Business? Or for my geographical location?

Why can't I see any links? GIYP.com looks very strange.
You may have "pop-up blocker" or "ad-blocker" software installed on your computer that is preventing you from seeing parts of the Green Industry Yellow Pages web site. Many of the links on our web site open in a new window so that you can keep your place on GIYP without having to click Back each time. For example, if you click to a website from a listing on the GIYP results page, the web site will appear in a new window above the browser window that GIYP is in. That way, you can browse through the new web site, close the window and continue searching on GIYP without losing your place.
Unfortunately, some pop-up and ad blocking software view these new windows as unwanted "pop-ups" so they block you from even seeing the links. Our team at GIYP strive to bring you relevant gardening content in a format that is friendly and easy to use . We will NEVER EVER display "pop-up ads" that show up without your knowledge or Flash ads that take over your entire screen. We hate them as much as you do and are not here to sacrifice your time just to make a quick advertising buck. That is our promise.

Privacy
Your privacy is very important to us. We understand and respect the concerns you may have about privacy and security when using the internet. We also want to assure you that we do not track or maintain any personal or personally identifiable information in our system without your explicit consent.
We do, however, use cookies in order to persist information about your search for your convenience. For example, your search type and geographical preference are stored as cookies so that you do not have to re-enter that information every time you do a search on GIYP. There is no possible way for these cookies to identify you or any information about you.
Security
We respect and understand your concerns about data transmitted over the Internet. To address these concerns, we do not keep any confidential information on the same hardware that runs the GIYP.com website and any private information that you send to us (via an online signup for example), is encrypted during the entire process. In other words, no one can "hack" your confidential information from our servers because it isnt there. When you send us private information online, it is encrypted with the same security level that the top financial institutions and government agencies use so it would be very difficult to "hack" that process as well.
However, you should keep in mind that this Site and GIYP services are run on software, hardware and networks, any component of which may, from time to time, require maintenance or experience problems or breaches of security.
